WORLD OF WONDER CAROUSEL COLLECTION REVIEW

Hello everyone!

I hope you're all fine. I know this review came up a bit late. I was busy with exams so I didn't actually get the time to play with the objects properly. But now I'm all ready to show you all the awesome stuff!

 

As far as I can remember, the venue was released at The Sims 3 Store on the 5th of June and It's now available for 1,900 SimPoints. There are 29 items included in this set (including the lot.) There are also three premium content-

1. World of Wonder Carousel
2. World of Wonder Popcorn Machine and Cotton Candy
3. Whack-A-Set!

But to me, I consider that there are 4 premium objects since the cotton candy and popcorn machine is in one single premium content. There are 14 different pieces of tent included with the set. You can build amusement park, carnivals, wedding venues and if you have The Sims 3 Showtime you can create venues for your singers, acrobats and magicians! The premium content are of 3 types - the carousel is the main premium content, the popcorn/cotton candy machine are miniature premium content and the Whack-A-Set! is similar to the Whack-A-Mole that comes with The Sims 3 Supernatural. The price seems fair to me, most of the price of other venues were like this and as there are three premium content, the price could have been greater.

I'm dividing this review into 8 parts:

THE  VENUE

The World of Wonder venue is a 50x50 lot and It is set as Big Park lot type. The cost of the lot is 260,583 Simoleons. There's a huge tent in the venue and there's nothing inside. There's also a wagon outside for Sims to change their outfits, a carousel, a fountain not too far from the middle, a little stage where your Sim can perform (if you own The Sims 3 Showtime) and another small tent where it includes all the three Whack-A-Set! objects- Whack-A-Chicken, Whack-A-Clown and Whack-A-Corndog. As soon as you place the lot, It would look huge and full of colourful objects. I like the venue and It is furnished and designed well to give that 'carnival' look and you can also free up some space if you want to add more objects of your choice. I think that the small stage is a great place for magicians to perform but I would have to make some changes in order to make it work. I want to remove the World of Wonders Fountain but It would ruin the cheerful 'clown' look of the venue. Here are some pictures of the venue:

WORLD OF WONDER CAROUSEL

The first premium content included in the set is the World of Wonder Carousel. This premium content is one of the very lively and cheerful content I've ever had in my game. The cost of the object in-game is 21,000 simoleons. You can recolour almost every part of the object except the wooden floor and the stencils on the carousel. The animals aren't recolourable either but that's not disappointing because they look fine the way they are. It comes in three different recolours:

Your Sim can ride it with other Sims or alone. This kinda works like the cars. They don't get to the carousel by themselves, the Sims automayically fade away and pops there. It would have been nice If they got to there by themselves. Once your Sims rides there, a music would play. Some would wave their arms and feel happy while they ride there. Some Sims get scared too when they ride on the carousel! Elders and children can ride the carousel too. After the ride, there won't be any negative effects to your Sims. Here are some screenshots:

But this Sim seems quite scared.

 Some may pet the animal, feel scared, wave their arms with joy, look at other Sims etc. Love the idea that the Store added animations like this. It would have been boring to see Sims riding there normally, right?

After the ride ends, the carousel would move slowly and your Sims would pop back to the place. Sometimes Sims may get the 'Wheee!' moodlet after the ride:

COTTON CANDY MAKER AND POPCORN MACHINE

The second premium content included with the venue is a set of two content- The Popcorn Machine and the Cotton Candy Maker. Elders and children can use them. Keep in mind that eating these treats won't increase your Sim's hunger or make them gain weight. They are available in one flavour only. There are new animations of the cotton candy maker as shown below:

Both of the content have different moodlets. Your Sims will get Freshly Popper moodlet with the popcorn machine and Sugary Sweet moodlet with the cotton candy maker.

WHACK-A-SET!

This is the third premium content and has three different objects included- Whack-a-Chicken, Whack-A-Clown and Whack-A-Corndog. This premium content is a set of 3 objects and quite similar to the Whack-A-Mole from The Sims 3 Supernatural. This one also has cute new animations. Your Sim will earn some points after finishing the game, it depends on how well they played.

Corndog goes from eaten to uneaten

The scenery goes from day to night

The clown goes from happy to evil

 After finishing the game, your Sim won't earn any simoleons but would get points depending on how your Sim played it. There are no moodlets.

TENT BUILDING

For the first time ever you can create tents in The Sims 3 using various kinds of tent pieces. They don't block weather and you can find them in the Roof Decorations category on Buy Mode. They are recolourable and you can do many things with them, create your own venues etc. Loved the idea of adding tents with this venue.

I recoloured and gave a new *coughs* design to this tent in the venue:

OTHER BUY/BUILD OBJECTS

9 objects are also included with the venue. My favourite is the fountain with a clown on top of it. I love how well the objects are designed. The sandbox looks different from other sandboxes and is a nice object for children to play in.

RELATED STORE CONTENT

The Le Cirque Celebration set is a great set filled with carnival themed content that would go well with the World of Wonder Carousel set. Although the price of the Le Cirque Celebration is higher, the objects are quite fun to use. If you own both of the sets, you can create the carnival or amusement park of your dreams!

OVERALL REVIEW

As I have mentioned before, the price of the venue seems quite right to me. I love the tent pieces. You can do so much things with it. The carousel must be one of my favourite premium content so far. Love the new animations and the music of course! However, I wished they didn't fade away and get into the carousel. But that didn't disappoint me very much. The second set of premium content- the popcorn and cotton candy maker are good objects If you want them in your own venue. I plan on using them for my cow themed amusement park I'm making this summer! The Whack-A-Set has some cute animations but we have already seen these before in Supernatural. To be honest, I like all the other buy/build objects that comes with the venue and I expect more from the upcoming set. I think I'll be using the tent pieces a lot in my game! If you're really into carnival and amusement park themed set, I recommend this set or If you're not really into this theme, you can wait until the price lowers down a bit. So, this is all for today. The score for this set is 8/10.
