THE SIMS 4 COOL KITCHEN STUFF REVIEW

The Sims 4 Cool Kitchen Stuff was released on August 11th. Like the other stuff packs, this one is focused on a a particular theme, adds new objects and at least one game play feature in your game. Hope you enjoy the rest of my review.

To make this review easier, I'm dividing into a few sections:

  • Introduction and opinions
  • Ice Cream Machine
  • CAS Assets
  • Buy/Build Mode Objects
  • Styled Rooms
  • Overall Thinking
INTRODUCTION AND OPINIONS

The Sims 4 Cool Kitchen comes with a variety of buy/build mode objects as well as some CAS items for your Sims. It also comes in with a new ice cream machine (which you all know it was advertised many times) The ice cream comes with 30 new flavours, toppings and garnishes which I think is quite interesting and fun to watch. Some of the flavours can give your Sims different moodlets which last for some time.

Comparing to the previous stuff packs which we got in the past few months, Luxury Party Stuff and Perfect Patio Stuff, this was quite different. Luxury Party Stuff mainly focused on the CAS part and I think, Is pretty nice If you want your Sims to be all glitz and glamorous. Perfect Patio Stuff focused on the ways in which you can decorate your patio and the hot tub works flawlessly. This time, I noticed many CAS items which was a great addition to the SP. The hairstyles that comes with it are different from the ones we've seen in other SPs. The CAS part was pretty decent but I was expecting more Kitchen-related outfits. There are one or two of them but it would've been nice to see cute cooking wear along with a chef hat. On a different note, Buy/Build mode objects were related to kitchen but the disappointment is there are very few objects and most of them are just for decor. At first, when they announced the SP, me including many players expected to see different themes and styles of Kitchen. For example, 50s themed kitchen and a country themed kitchen would not be bad at all. My favourite objects are the flower vase and the paintings. The painting comes in a wide range of themes and suits in any room you place. Apart from the ice cream, I can't make up my mind what this SP was really aiming at. However, If you want new objects in your game, you could give it a go.

ICE CREAM MACHINE

What do you think of when you hear the word "Cool?" (The bear is not cool) You may think about ice cream at some point, right? Included with Cool Kitchen is this ice cream machine. There are various flavours you can choose from. Some of them give your Sims different moodlets while other don't. Those that change your Sim's moods are: Weight Of The Word (increases weight) Taste of Diet (helps your Sim lose weight) Twin Roses (makes your Sim Flirty) Haunted Mint (can make your Sim Inspired/Sad) Mental Upheaval (temporarily give your Sim moods that change emotions) Plant Matter (makes your Sim a PlantSim with green skin tone) Dragon's Breath (Sims can burp fire) Chilling Mocha (turns Sim blue and they'll feel chilled)

Once your Sim is done making ice cream, it will immediately be placed in your Sim's inventory which is quite odd. I expected to see them placing it on the nearest counter or table.

There are different toppings and garnishes to choose from to sweeten up that ice cream, such as:

There are two kind of ice cream which can change your Sim's skin tone - Chilling Mocha and Plant Matter. The Dragon's Breath is the opposite. On a different note, It's quite strange to see the ice cream cone being so huge. The bowl was nice and looks pretty with garnishes and toppings.

Too much ice cream can make your Sim lose weight, unless it's the Taste Of Diet ice cream! Brain freeze and falling cones can also occur and they are quite fun to watch. Chilling Mocha can make your Sim feel extremely cold and eventually turn them blue after one serving. Soon, they'll get the "Ice Treat" moodlet which would allow them to "Chill Touch" other Sims. Could this be a hint of a Seasons EP?

The Plant Matter ice cream can really make your Sim want to go outside! This is pretty much like the PlantSim. After a serving, they'll head outdoors automatically and have a strong desire to do anything outdoor-related.

THe Dragon's Breath Ice Cream is my favourite so far. After a serving, Sims will constantly burp fire. While eating the ice cream, they'll start to fell very warm and burp fire while the moodlet lasts.

CAS ASSETS

The CAS items includes some very pretty and unique hairstyles comparing with the previous SPs. However, there's one flaw - there are no items included for children. As far as I have noticed, I think they included CAS items for children in other SPs but unfortunately, not in this one. Starting with the hairstyles for female, I like the fact hairstyles of different lengths, both long and short are there. The hairstyles for male are quite stylish too. However, in my opinion, It would have been nice to include one or two hairstyles for children as they did with Perfect Patio Stuff. As mentioned before, there are only two kitchen related outfits you can find in the picture below. One accessory is also included - the necklace. Along with that, It would have been nice to see gloves which would suit very well with this pack.

BUY/BUILD MODE OBJECTS

OVERALL THOUGHTS

To sum up, It's a pretty decent SP. There are some cute outfits included for both male and female but I wish there were some outfits for children. The Buy/Build mode has too few items and as I mentioned before, I was expecting to see many more objects than just decor. I'm not saying the items used only for decor are not up to the mark; they are designed pretty nicely but there were too many of them. Most of the kitchen items such as the counters look like they could be included in the base game, at least what I think so far. On a different note, the decor objects are favourite objects so far in Buy/Build mode. I'm really hoping they release a better stuff pack next month. Plus, It would be nice to see If they focused on the specific theme but also include different varieties of those specific objects. The CAS items are beyond amazing and this pack should've been called "Cool Clothes' as everyone else says. I give Cool Kitchen a score of 6/10

Hope you all enjoyed reading my review. Please let me know your thoughts in the comment section below. Also, If my review helped you make decision whether to buy this or not, don't forget to recommend!
