THE SIMS 3 STORE WORLD REVIEW:MIDNIGHT HOLLOW

Hey Simmers!

Welcome to my very first Store world review of the brand new world,Midnight Hollow! I had so much fun playing with this world that i want to share all my opinions about this world! I took a lot of screenshots of this world and also enjoyed reviewing this world. I hope you all enjoy reading my Midnight Hollow Review!

INTRODUCTION

First of all,when the Store team showed a sneak peek of this world most of us thought that it was going to be a horror themed world.But this is not only a horror themed world.There's a gloomy feel and also Open for Business content! Yes,OFB content from The Sims 2 returned! This world is not only dark but beautiful as well! Let me show you some screenshots:

This world is a mixture of victorian,gothic,dark,horror etc.There are two version of this world- 1) Standard version 2) Gold version. The Standard version is 2,450 SimPoints and has one premium content-Savvy Seller's Collection. The Gold version is 4,350 Simpoints. It is on sale right now and the sale price is 3,900 SimPoints (sale ends on 8th October).There are two premium content with the Gold version- 1) Savvy Seller's Collection 2) The Titanic Toy Machine (my favorite).The Titanic Toy machine also comes with a new venue-The Golden Ticket Shop! Before we get to the premium content,I want to say a few things about the world.The CAS assets that come with it are absolutely gorgeous,and the new plants/trees are beautiful as well.What impressed me the most are the CAS assets and the beauty of the world of course! The Store team had put a lot of CAS assets with this world that made me and most of us simmers happy.The new plants/trees are nice too! While I was searching for them on Build mode,I found a little interesting fact that the name of every plants and trees begin with the word 'haunted.' Another favorite thing of mine are the description of the households. That might have taken a lot of thinking to write. The rabbitholes are beyond amazing.Here's the Business building called Simagon Valley:

It's pretty nice! But I wish another rabbithole was added to this one,such as the Grocery store. 

Oh,and another favorite part of this world is that you can create eccentric Sims as much as you like! There are many eccentric households in Midnight Hollow such as the Vasquez,and the red sky is so beautiful. It just seems like a dream when I see the colour of the sky. Midnight Hollow is foggy too but not it isn't that much foggy like Bridgeport.So,let's start with the premium content!

PREMIUM CONTENT

1) SAVVY SELLER'S COLLECTION

Woot woot! Open for Business content finally! This premium content has five items;shop door,pedestal,cash register,rugs (they come in 5 sizes) wall shelves and parking space. Keep in mind that if you use another rug,wall shelf or door,you won't be able to run your own store and food cannot be sold with the cash register because you can purchase them with the Food Register. Below are the pictures that come with this premium content:

Cash register

The cash register is essential to run a store. I am going to click 'Browse" first

You will get this message when you click 'Browse' It mentions the total amount of items available on the your store. If you click "Purchase"

The Shopping Cart box will appear. You can easily purchase the items from the cart but i the most enjoyable way to buy them is by clicking the carpet.We are coming to that soon! So,my my Sim,Amelia is going to buy a new laptop. This message will appear:

If you have The Sims 3 Late Night installed and if your sim is a celebrity,this message is going to appear. After buying it,you will get this message:

It will be placed it the family inventory.Now let's see how my Electronics Shop is running.

It's not running that bad I think!

HIRING A NEW SALESCLERK

Sorry for not showing it at the beginning.You can simply click on the register and then there will be an option 'Hire Salesclerk' A clerk will automatically appear after you get this message:

If you don't like the clerk,you can fire him/her too!

RUGS

As I have said,the rugs come in 5 sizes (1x1,1x2,2x2,3x3,4x4) Amelia is buying a piano

Yes,it will be easily place in your Sim's inventory. Now let's set the markup of all the sellable objects on the lot:

I have set it to low price so that people buy from my store often! Let's have a sale now!

I set it to 40% off. By and by,customers will visit your store and buy things.Then your sim can earn money easily! Why sent them to work when they can earn money in a fun way? When the objects in your store are on sale they will have a tag like this:

Pedestals

Pedestal can hold upto 4-7 objects i think.You can't place too large object there though.Here's an example:

Shelves

The shelf is pretty normal. It can handle small objects like the pedestals.It can handle up to 4-6 objects.Here's an example:

Shop door

This is another important part for making a store.Here are the interactions:

So, I clicked the 'Name Store' button and this box appears:

Simply name your store.I named it as 'Rosalind's Electronics.' Although her name isn't Rosalind buy why not?

If you click on 'Set Opening Time.' You will get two more interactions- 1)AM 2)PM

PARKING SPACE

This is also normal as well. You can only place cars in the parking space. If you want to run a car showroom,you need a bigger lot.

2) PREMIUM CONTENT-THE TITANIC TOY MACHINE

This one is my favorite! This magical machine pops up toys for baby/child/toddler ! I think this is a very cute premium content.Here are some of the toys your sims can make:

Your Sim can make teddy bear,doll house,train,robot,play mat,racecar,clown-in-a-box,drum,baby-bricks-a-lot,random toy,balloon animal,table blocks and even a new toy,kite which was never in The Sims 3! Here are the toys your Sim can make with this machine.Also there are four types of balloon animal.While your Sim is making a balloon using the toy machine,it can produce different types of it.Sometimes,the machine may fail to make a toy and you will get this:

Teddy bear (usable by child,teen,adult)

Doll house (usable by child only)

Freezer bunny balloon (only for view)

Race car (usable by child and toddler)

Train (usable by child and toddler)

Robot (usable by child and toddler)

Clown-in-a-box (usable by child)

Kite (usable by child,teen and adult)

 Drum (usable by child and toddler)

Table blocks (usable by child and toddler)

Play mat (usable by baby only)

Features of the kite


Your sim won't be able to fly the kite at first,it might take some time to see it fly. They are dangerous too. Yes,if you have Seasons installed,beware of lightning! Below you can see some pictures. The process keep repeating like this. One time it falls down and then you can see it fly again

THE GOLDEN TICKET TOY SHOP (ONLY INCLUDED WITH MIDNIGHT HOLLOW GOLD VERSION)

The Golden Ticket Toy Shop is the new venue that comes with Midnight Hollow Gold edition. Your Sims can buy and also make toys in this cute-looking toy store! It has the premium content- The Titanic Toy Machine.When you are going to place this lot,there'll be a special 40x40 size lot for it. So you don't need to use the world editor just directly place it there. Here are the pictures of the venue:

 Look at those adorable Freezer Bunnies! They are perfect for decorating child/toddler's room.

BUY/BUILD MODE OBJECTS


The buy mode objects that come with Midnight Hollow has the dark touch in it. I think this is the only world where the Store team added many plants and trees.Although the world is dark,the plants and trees are pretty. The buy/build mode objects both have the dark feeling.I tried to decorate a room with some of the objects  from Midnight Hollow but they are so dark that the darkness mixes with the world and becomes quite difficult to see. Below are all the buy/build mode objects and some recolors:

I love this curtain.If you recolor it and add some patterns it would look lovely

I love the lighting and the lamps too. I noticed that you can recolor the bulbs! Check out the second screenshot. I changed the color of the bulb to yellow to make it look beautiful

Every world come with different mail box. As Midnight Hollow is based on spooky theme,the mail box of it has the spooky touch too or I would say steampunk.

I just love the paintings! Specially the angel one,wait all of them!!

The plants and trees are my favorite so far. Al though they look kinda dark,they have the true beauty in them.Right now, I'm just waiting for someone to make a haunted house with all the trees and plants from Midnight Hollow!

Have you noticed the shimmery effect of the statue? Great texture.

I recolored the sofa using different colours. It changed from a gloomy sofa to groovy sofa. Like I have said,if you change the colour or pattern of the objects they sure does look beautiful!

CAS ASSETS


I'm glad to say that the CAS assets aren't TOO dark. They have the mixture of horror and prettiness. I have no words to say for the female CAS assets.They are just wow. I usually don't get excited seeing the CAS assets that come with worlds but this time...I'm impressed. You'll be impressed too.

This hair is my favorite. It looks so formal-y and the flowers on the other side are so pretty!

Households

The households in Midnight Hollow have a unique and different story.I enjoyed reading the description of the households. You all know Olive Specter from The Sims 2! Yep,she's back.

Pham family

 Trang is an artistic savant. She paints some of the most brilliant paintings in the world and is renowned for her unqiue avant garde style. It's really too bad that she can't stand art. At all.

Ziggfield family

 David and Alia Ziggfield are all about reinvention, innovation, and striking visual presentation. She's a model turned surgeon and his current style is a glam rock flamboyant androgynous alter ego out to change the world.

Sombre family

 Nadia had a hard time convincing her bandmates that she should be taken seriously as the lead vocalist in their band, but one metal growl during an argument and they were sold. Don't let her size fool you, this girl can rock.

Finley family

 Conrad was born for the evening news. He has the wit, the brains, and the nose for news. The only things he's lacking in the world is melanin. But he doesn't miss it and he's not letting it hold him back. He'll be the anchor on the evening news in the next 5 years or his name isn't Conrad Finley.

Stewart family

Katarina's love for dolls came at a young age. She adored all of the fashion and possibilities. As she aged, her only dream was to be like her beloved doll. Now with pristine skin and an almost expressionless face she loves everything she sees in the mirror and doesn't want to be alone. She has her eyes set on collector Jack Limb because if anyone can appreciate perfect upkeep of a doll, it's him; but his feelings for that perfect Sarah Holden are standing in her way.

Carter family

 Kara Carter is a leading chef in town with an eccentric sense of fashion. She grabs inspiration where she can find it, whether it's the modern Vivienne Simwood, or Marie Simtoinette of the past. She may be described as "Shabby Chic" but her Goopy Carbonara is to DIE FOR.

Nguiyen family

 Samantha has a number of tattoos on her body and each one tells a story of something she's loved, places she's been, and where she hopes to be. Also they just look really great on her. Midnight Hollow is just one stop on her grand adventure of bringing affordable medicine to the world and who knows where she's headed next.

Entrepreneurs family 

 Seema has the charm, Karl has the smarts, and Todd has the money. They're pressured by friends, family, and society to make something of themselves and they have a plan! Entrepreneurship is a real thing...right?

Prince family

Cecilia and Cornell have had enough. Instead of living the life of normal children their mother has forced them into a regimented existence that has stifled their creativity and freedom. Sure they know more skills in their early youth than most Sims would know in a lifetime, but at what cost? They've run away to live with their grandparents hoping to find out who they are and who they want to be before adulthood sets in.

Specter family ***RETURNING FAMILY

 Olive has had her share of death in her life with every romantic relationship she had ending in a sudden and untimely death. Furious at Death, she decided to track him down to give him a piece of her mind. What she didn't expect was to start a relationship with him! That ended quickly, but she was left with something to remember him by. Now it's just her and her young son, who is quite the Nervous Subject indeed.

Limb household

Jack is the resident toy collector. New in Box, Vintage, First Edition, are all phrases in his vocabulary and he keeps his collection pristine. He'd like to go into toy making but lacks the proper skill, so in the meantime he's drafting a daring rescue of his dear love Sarah from the evil Dr. Synapse.

Watts family

 Nathan Watts is leading energy and technology. He's trying his new inventions around town, but his discoveries will revolutionize the way we use energy around the world. How does he get everything done? Sheer organization. He's naturally quite neat but everything has its place and everything needs to be in it or he can't concentrate. Whatever you do, don't start counting in 3's around him, once you start he won't be able to stop.

Doe family

Jane is the perfect housewife, from her neat hairstyle to her fashionable yet conservative dress. She's neat, nurturing, loves her kids, and can make a mean pot roast! Meanwhile, John is rising in the ranks at his corporate job. He feels successful in life and supported by his family. He works hard but comes home in enough time to teach his kids a lesson or two about life and talk to his wife about her day. Nothing mysterious seems to be happening here, but didn't their house used to have a basement?

Yates family

Morgan loves his mother. More than anyone or anything. There's nothing creepy about this. They're just best friends and hang out alone together in their large quiet home. Visitors can hear her, and passersby can see her in the window, but no one has ever actually seen her face.

Bledsoe family

Phineas is at the height of fashion and the height of poetry (if there ever was one). He can tell in an instant if a piece of writing or clothing will be a hit or a gauche rerun to be quickly forgotten by the masses. It's best to get and stay on his good side if you want near the "it" list.

Lau family

 The Lau triplets were the foremost scientists in the field of optimizing the human body to better the earth. After an experiment went awry the women were left with super fit physiques and the need for a new purpose in life. Each sister took on a new career that would employ their newfound physical prowess.

Hyde family

Lucien is a tortured artist whose only torturer is himself. He enjoys being sad and the better he is, the sadder he gets. It's his thing.

Winchester family

Odessa and Cedrick come from a long line of blue-blooded royals but had their throne usurped when the townsfolk felt that they were a bit too crazy to be rulers. They've found a town where they feel comfortable and they're trying their hand at Politics. Royalty here, Royalty there, what does it matter when you're royalty?

Vasquez family

Fausto has always been known for his good looks and his charming personality and he rode on those traits for most of his life. Now as he sees his youth fading and realizes he has no real talent or experience to speak of, he realizes he needs a new plan. He can love someone significantly older than him right? Or at least pretend to for awhile?

Poirot family

Julian has been a performer all of his life. He shined on the stages of Champs Les Sims and brought wonder and excitement to all those who viewed him. But those watching him didn't know that the light they saw on stage was not talent, but the light actually inside his heart. As time wore on and life got harder his light began to fade and performances became more and more sad. Can love bring Julian's light back? Or will he be the saddest clown?

OVERALL THINKING

I like the theme of the world,it was so unexpected but I'm happy that we got a world like this. However,many people find this world too dark including me. Sometimes it becomes so difficult to see especially during night. I had to lighten almost every pictures and screenshots for this review because it was dark.The price of this world seems a bit expensive to me.In this world,there are so many places to visit and explore,and I'm glad they brought back OFB content,it made many simmers happy.The new venue and the titanic toy machine is okay but what made me upset is that the clown-in-a-box is not usable by toddlers but I'm glad they made something exciting for toddler and children.The Savvy Seller's Collection made this world amazing in my opinion but we won't be able to sell collectibles and other such things are craftable items and we all know that the NPC with every register roams around. I thought that would be fixed with this content but unfortunately no.The Buy/Build mode objects are great and the CAS assets are beyond amazing. I have o complaints for both of them. SCORE- 8/10
